The purpose of low noise cables is to minimize noise and interference within the cable due to the chattering effect. Ordinary cables produce unwanted electrical noise when exposed to external disturbances such as light contact, regular movement and vibration. These interferences are sufficient to affect the signal transmitted by the cable and cause numerical errors.

Low noise cables are suitable for all types of highly sensitive precision equipment, usually involving very low current detection or measurement.

The semi-conductive layer is located between the cable core and the outer sheath, which means that any charge formed by movement or pressure can quickly travel back and forth between the sheaths, effectively trapping unwanted signals, so that no charge can reach the equipment to which the cable is connected.
